The Friars from the Anthonian Association know that you care a great deal about your personal information and how it is used and shared, and we appreciate you trusting that we will do so carefully and sensibly. To this end we constantly monitor, review, and adopt best practices in order to keep donors’ information secure.

Our commitment to protecting your privacy

We follow these guiding principles, which have earned the trust and support of many around the world:

1) We don’t ask you for personal information unless we really need it.

2) We never share your personal information with anyone except to serve you better, to maintain proper accounting, and to comply with the regulations governing non-profits.

3) We don’t store personal information on our servers unless required for the on-going operation of our website.

This Privacy Policy explains our practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used by us. This Privacy Policy applies to donor information that we collect both online and offline.

Notice to non u.s. users

If you live outside of the United States, thank you for visiting our website. Please note that we do not accept donations, collect or store data from individuals who reside outside of the U.S. Also keep in mind that when you visit the online portal for the Messenger of St. Anthony and St Anthony’s Basilica in Padua, Italy, your donor records will be protected even more, for in accordance with requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) online visitors  are entitled to additional personal privacy protections (click here to review additional Privacy Policy statements).

Notice to California Users

This notice for California residents contains additional information to this Privacy Notice and applies solely to all visitors, donors, and others who reside in the State of California. We are providing this California Notice pursuant to the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 and any terms defined in the CCPA have the same meaning when used in this California Notice. California Civil Code Sections 1798.115(c), 1798.130(a)(5)(c), 1798.130(c), and 1798.140 indicate that organizations should disclose whether personal information is collected, transferred for “valuable consideration,” as defined under California law.

Rest assured that we do not “sell or exchange” your personal information with other organization. Though we transfer credit card numbers in order to process payments, we do not collect or transfer credit card numbers of individuals that submit questions through our website’s contact forms. Furthermore, the Anthonian Association does not track visitors over time and across third party websites to provide targeted advertising and therefore does not respond to Do Not Track (DNT) signals. However, be advised that some third party sites do keep track of your browsing activities, which enable them to tailor what they present to you. Know that you can change your browser settings if you do not want wish to be tracked.  For example if you are using Google Chrome and you want to turn your “Do Not Track” on or off on your computer, open your browser (i.e., you can also do this for other browsers like Firefox, Safari, Opera, Internet Explorer) then click Settings, then Privacy and Security, then Cookies and other site data, and lastly turn on or off the button Send a “Do not track” request with your browsing traffic. California residents may request a list of any personal information provided to third parties in the preceding year for direct-marketing purposes, free of charge.

Privacy of Children

The Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) is a federal law from 1998 that applies in all 50 states. It protects children under 13 by requiring companies that knowingly collect and use data from children to (1) Publish special Privacy Policies that are “clear and comprehensive”( 2) Ask for parental consent before collecting information (3) Ensure any children’s information if and when collected and stored is secure. The Anthonian Association does not engage in the practice of marketing to children and we do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information online from visitors under the age of 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from an individual under the age of 13, we will quickly take steps to inform parents giving them a chance to consent in order to prevent further use or online collection of a child’s personal information. If we are not able to get parental consent, we delete that information from our systems. What information we collect

We collect personal information when you voluntarily submit it to us. For example, donors may provide us with personal information (such as name, address, email address, telephone numbers and/or credit/debit card information) when making a donation online. If a donor, or a website visitor, contacts us by email they may provide us with their email address, and name. Providing data is required in these contexts in order for us to process your donations, requests, or respond to inquiries. In addition to the personal information that you submit to us, we may collect personal information about you from reputable third parties, or automatically collect information using the following technologies:

Web Server Logs. Our web servers may collect certain information such as IP address, pages visited, time of visits, and referring website.

Cookies. Cookies are simple text files stored by your web browser that provide a method of distinguishing among donors and visitors to the website. The Anthonian Association uses cookies to identify your browser as you visit our U.S. website or our website in Padua, Italy. Cookies also allow us to provide more relevant, targeted content, they are also for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you visit our website. These cookies will last for one year.

Content from other websites. Articles on our site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Where do we transfer and store information? The Anthonian Association is based in the United States (Chicago, Illinois), and any information transmitted to us on our website www.stanthonyusa.com may be stored, accessed, or processed in the United States. Residents of some other countries, including residents of the European Union, should be aware that the laws of the United States do not offer the same protections as the laws of your home country.

How do we use information?
We collect information primarily to accept donations, complete our charitable projects, and provide you with information concerning our programs, projects, and activities. We also use information for internal purposes (to better understand our supporters) and for analytical purposes (to respond to requests for prayers and to improve our website, donor base, and outreach).

With whom do we share information?
Under no circumstances, do we trade, share, or sell information that you provide to us with other organizations or religious groups who intend to use it to market their products or services to you.

There may be instances in which we may share your information with others. We may share your information, for example, in conjunction with your sponsorship of a certain project (i.e., St Anthony’s Charities), and as required by law, with law enforcement, to comply with any legal process, or to protect against fraud, criminal acts, or misconduct. We may also share your information with attorneys who may be verifying a successor’s legal entity.

Our commitment to data security

To help prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, we have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect. For example, we secure our computers with Antivirus protection software and encryption protocols. We also use industry accepted tools and techniques such as SSL and two-factor authentication to protect against unauthorized access to our systems. Additionally, all sensitive information is stored in secure repositories both in-house as well as online.

Retention of Information. The Anthonian Association and the Friars from St Anthony’s Basilica will retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes we collected it for, including for the purposes of satisfying any accounting or reporting requirements (i.e., year-end tax receipts and renewal notices). We also may retain information up to 18 months for backup, archival, audit purposes, and/or to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce agreements. Your access to data, and your choices. If you would like to access the data that we received from you, or make corrections to it, you may contact us at the email or mailing addresses provided at the end of this policy. If you registered to receive communications from us and later change your mind, you may ask that your name and contact information be removed from our distribution list. You can send such a request to the email or mailing addresses at the end of this policy.  Some web browsers and devices permit you to broadcast a preference that you not be “tracked” online. At this time we do not modify your experience based upon whether such a signal is broadcast.

Additional information

Links. We implement Google’s Invisible reCAPTCHA to protect our site from spam and abuse. Use of this service is subject to Google’s privacy policy and terms. Our website may contain links to other Web sites. Please note that when you click on one of these links, you are entering another site that is governed by that site’s privacy policy.

Social media information. Our website includes social media buttons (i.e., Facebook, Twitter and YouTube) that are managed by our St Anthony’s friars in Padua, Italy. When you connect to them please be aware that these features may also collect your Internet protocol address, which page you are visiting, and may set a cookie to enable the feature to function properly. Also if you are logged into your social media account, it is possible that the respective social media network can link your visit to our website with your social media profile. Your interactions with these features are governed by the privacy statement of the company providing it.

Changes to this privacy statement. We may modify this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this website. If we make a material change to this policy, and need to apply it to personal information that you provided to us before the change was made, we will attempt to contact you and obtain your consent to the change.
